How do I get a Library Card?
Everyone can get a library card!
- Resident Cards-Residents (or business owners) of the City of Sedalia may get a library card at no cost. Resident cards are good for 3 years.
- Residents of Pettis County may get a library card for an annual fee of $20 for your entire household.
- Anyone who resides outside of Pettis County may get a library card for an annual fee of $25 for your entire household.
Minors (under 18) should bring a parent or legal guardian with them to sign up for a library card. The adult will need to show an ID and/or proof of address.
What Do I Need to Bring?
To register for a Library card, you must supply the following documentation and information:
- Proof of identification: government issued ID or School ID
- Proof of physical address (if current address is not on ID, a water or electric bill works great)
Library Card Ownership-
The applicant’s signature on the registration card is a promise that all information provided to obtain the card is correct, that the applicant agrees to abide by all Library policies and will notify Library staff of any change of status or the loss or theft of their card.
The patron is responsible for all fines, fees, damages or lost items associated with their library card. Parents or guardians are responsible for the materials checked out on a minor's card. A parent's signature on a minor's card allows access to checking out library materials, utilizing library services, and attending library events. Parents are responsible for materials their child/children check out at the library.
To check out materials, a library card is preferred, but if you forget your library card, an alternate form of ID will be accepted.
What if I lose my card?
Replacement cards can be purchased for $1.
